The guard smiles cruely, "Make sure he's alive when I get back. You've got 5 minutes to get what you need." He takes off his helmet and walks into the Pale Prince. "Listen, halfling. I don't know where they are. I woke up in irons last night after they left, and now I'm here in stocks. I haven't seen any of them since. If I knew, maybe I would tell you where they are, maybe I wouldn't. Knocking me around while I'm stuck here isn't gonna make me know what I don't know." He looks at you with the same smug look he's had the whole time.

(By the rules of D&D i should roll sense motive, but that's boring)

Valor draws back his arm and punches the prisoner in the nose. He raises his voice at the man. "I'm not playing your games!  Tell me where they are!"

4 non-lethal damage

(That's gonna need an intimidate check along with it. The first threat probably needed one as well, but whatever.)

(Circumstantial modifier, yeah.)

Opposed roll: +3

He tries his best to move his head out of the way of your swing, but simply can't. "Ow, damn. You're not going to beat what I don't know into me, kid, so you might as well stop."

Valor looks at him for a few more seconds with anger slowly building in his eyes before he speaks again. "Fine, have it your way." He walks over toward the bar. Bringing the anger in his face back down to a more emotionless state. When he arrives he looks around for the men.

(There are many, many bars in Waymoot. Poor people and alcohol have a really close relationship.)

If you went into the Pale Prince, you don't see them there.

(I finally realized that they're probably in hiding)

Valor gives up his search and walks back to the pale prince. He begins looking around to see if Aeryn stayed there or not.

Aeryn is there sitting on the bookcase. You walk in, "Couldn't beat it out of him, huh?"

Valor gives a smile. "Don't worry about it. I got everything that you need." He throws his everlasting rations and everfull mug on the ground. "That should supply you with all the food and drink you need for the trip. Ready to go?"

When you open your backpack, you find that your everfull mug is missing. Though Aeryn sees the plain looking leather pouch and looks confused. "That pouch is empty. Are we going to eat the leather?"

(who steals an empty mug, 289 gold pieces wasn't enough for them)

Valor gives a depressing sigh. "Well, drink might be a problem after all. As for food." Valor walks over and picks the leather pouch off of the ground and speaks the command word required to fill it with rations. "I think that'll suffice until we can get to dhedluck and get some real food." Valor tosses the leather pouch to Aeryn. "Now since I don't have any money however can you afford anything to drink for two days?"

Somebody might have mentioned something about what happened to your everfull mug. Intelligence check 10 to remember.

Aeryn's eyes grow wide as food just appears out of thin air. "Where has this been my whole life?... Where have you been my whole life?" He sits down on the bed, holding his overloaded head. "In one day I find a new friend, a limitless amount of food, and an opportunity to leave this terrible city? I can't take this." He thinks for a second. He hops down from the bed with wild excited eyes."Yes, YES! A human sized waterskin should last us a couple days to get to Dhedluk. If someone won't sell me one for 4 gold, I'll steal it if I have to! Let's go! Meet you at the Northeast gate!" He shoulders his backpack and tent and dashes out the door and down the stairs. He tosses a thanks to the bartender as he runs by and keeps running.

Valor lets out a smile and a laugh as his friend runs out of the room full of excitement. He was happy that he could lift his friend's mood. He got ready to head to the north gate but had something to do first. He climbs on top of the bookcase that Aeryn had been sitting on most of the time. And looked out the window. Curious to look at what Aeryn had been looking at the whole time. While up there he also ponders about what happened to his everfull mug.

The top of the bookcase is right at the bottom of the window, and it offers a good view of the whole square on which the Pale Prince is located. Outside you see a few people trudging about miserably. It's about 10:00, so most of the common men are either working in the refineries or in the lumber mills. Your eyes finally rest on the man who assaulted you still in his stocks. You ponder why they took a regular looking clay mug and not the regular looking leather pouch too. You think the inkeeper said something about it at breakfast.

Valor stares out the window for a few more moments looking at the poor and hungry people who are going about their lives trying to be as happy as they possibly can be. Finally he hops off the bookcase and goes down stairs to the eating area and looks around for the innkeeper. When he finds him he asks. "Excuse me, you said that those men yesterday threw a mug at the guards. By any chance did it break? If it didn't do you have it? And if it did do you have the pieces?"

The barkeeper pours a drink for another patron, "Oh, yes, Master Valor. One of those men just up and chucked it at the first guard through the door. They train those purple dragons well, he had his shield up and the cup shattered on it. Soaked the poor guy's feet. By the time the water was out of his eyes, the men were already to the back door. Little cowards were okay beating two halfings unconscious, but one guard shows up and they scamper back to their holes. Were you two planning on staying with us again tonight?"

(that mug was worth more then a years wages...)

Valor gives a slight sigh of defeat when he hears that his mug broke. But lifts his head back up with a smile when he speaks to the innkeeper. "No, we must be on our way. Thank you for everything though you have been very kind." With that Valor goes to get his bag and straps it on. Then makes his way to the meeting point to wait for Aeryn.

(That's what happens when idiots meet magic items.)

You're waiting for 15 minutes when Aeryn walks up to you with two waterskins. "Got two for a gold! You ready, buddy?" He smiles contentedly and walks out that gate.
